New York Islanders rookie forward Josh Ho-Sang tallied his first career goal on Tuesday night in Edmonton. The 21-year-old winger ripped an absolute rocket from just a few feet in front of the blue line to beat Oilers’ goalie Cam Talbot. The top shelf placement of the one-timed blast was outstanding.
The 2014 first round pick (28th overall) caused a bit of a stir in the hockey world following his call-up to the big league club when he chose to wear jersey No. 66, the digits made iconic by Penguins legend Mario Lemieux. Ho-Sang is just the second player to wear the number since Lemieux’s retirement (the other being Flames defenseman T.J. Brodie, who later switched his number) and says he wears the number as a tribute to the beloved Super Mario. With a shot like that, something tells me Lemieux might be OK with it.
